Functions: Use this herb singly in a tea to
relieve constipation due to heat
accumulation in the intestine.
Dosage for tea:
for a laxative use 1.5-3 g
to purge more strongly use 5-10 g
for heat accumulating in the Large Intestine use up to 20g
Cautions and Contraindications:
not for chronic constipation
not for use in pregnancy, menstruation, or postpartum
for temporary use only
Pharmacognosy: contains dimeric glycosides sennidin A and B
