Huang Lian Jie Du Tang
Indicated for all excess fire toxicity syndromes
Key symptoms: 1) high fever, irritable, incoherent, insomnia, dry throat/mouth
2) bleeding which accompanies warm febrile disease
3) high fever, skin rashes, dysentary with pus, jaundice, skin infection
4) Tongue: red body with yellow coat Pulse: rapid and forceful
Functions: quell fire, detoxify body, dry damp
Dosages given for decoction.
with constipation add Da Huang
with deficient heat add Xuan Shen and Sheng Di Huang
with Spleen/Stomach weakness add Sheng Jiang, Da Zao, & Gan Cao
