Jin[1] Ying[1] Zi[3] Rose Hips Rosa laevigata, R. bella, R. davidii
Properties: sour, neutral, astringent
Channels:
Kidney, Urinary Bladder, Large Intestine
Functions and indications: Stabalizes the Kidney and retaines essence. Used when there is a deficiency leading to diarrhea, incontinence and spermatorrhea. It's action is short-term, therefore it is often used in conjunction with tonics, for example, used to treat chronic nephritis in conjunction with Yin and Yang tonics.
Useful for children with incontince; used together with Fu Pen Zi (note children's dosage ~1/3 adult dosage).
Dosage in decoction: 4-18 g
Caution: not for patients with excess Heat patterns.
