Indications: Wind-heat or heat in Lung due to Wind-Cold turning to Lung Heat
Key Symptoms: unrelieved fever, coughing or wheezing, with or with out sweating, flaring nostrils, thin yellow or white tongue coat, slippery rapid pulse
Functions: quells Lung Heat and descends Lung Qi
Herbs:
Dosages given for boiled water decoction
Chief: Ma Huang 5-9g disperses and descends Lung Qi
Deputy: Shi Gao/ Gypsum 12-18g quells Lung heat
Assistant: Xing Ren/ Apricot kernel 9g descends Lung Qi
Envoy: Zhi Gan Cao/ Honey fried Licorice root 6g
Precautions:
Ma Huang is not for long-term use
Xing Ren is toxic in large doses
