Xin[1] Yi[2] Hua[1] "Acrid Beautiful Flower" Magnolia Flower Bud Flos Magnoliae Magnolia biondii, M. denudata, M. sprengeri
Properties: acrid, warm, spicy
Channel: Lung, Stomach
Functions and Actions: dispels Wind-Cold and relieves stuffy nose. Use for headache with congestion during a cold. Also treats rhinuitis and sinusitus with thick discharge
Dosage in decoction: 3-9g; preparation: crush before boiling and put in coffee filter or cheese cloth to keep the small prickly hairs out of decoction. Cook only 5 minutes/ add at the end of cooking multi-herb decoction.
Harvest: Collect buds in early Spring
External Use: Xin Yi Hua can also be used to releive congestion with external use as nose drops (short term)
or in a cream.
