Wild Ginger Xi[4] Xin[1] "Thin Acrid" Herba Asari cum Radice Asarum heterotropoides, A. sieboldii, A. manshuricum

Properties: pungent warm
Channels: Lung Stomach Spleen Kidney
Functions: Best for Wind cold with sinusitus
dispels Wind-Cold, releives nasal obstruction, alleviates pain, removes retained fluid in the Lung e.g. in chronic bronchitis, warms the Lung, transforms phlegm, relieves stagnation
For "Shao Yin" headache; whole head painful, migraine, cold dominant head-ache, purple lips
Use externally for hot mouth sores with Huang Lian, for cold tootache with Bai Zhi, or for hot toothaches with Shi Gao and Huang Qin.
Used to stop arthritis/Bi syndrome pain that is is worse with cold damp weather.
Foor Wind-Cold with Yang deficiency.
Dosage in decoction: 1-3 g
Caution: not compatible with Li Lu
Qi deficiency with excessive sweating
Heat in the Lung leading to cough
Head ache due to Yin deficiency with Liver Yang Rising
