Zhen Wu Tang "True Warrior Decoction"

Indications:
1) Water accumulation due to Spleen and Kidney Yang deficiency
2) Tai Yang disharmony with pre-existing water retention

Key symptoms:
1) Difficult urination, heavy and painful limbs, abdominal pain, diarrhea, no thirst, white tongue coat, deep pulse
2) Unresolved fever after a treatment to promote sweating for Wind-Cold Exterior condition (for example treatment with Ma Huang Tang), palpitations, dizziness, tremor

Function: Warms the Yang Qi and promotes urination

Ingredients with dosages for decoction:
Chief: Pao Fu Zi/Aconite 9g warms Kidney Yang
Deputy: Sheng Jiang/Fresh Ginger 9g and Fu Ling 9g to eliminate water
Assistants: Bai Zhu 6g and Bai Shao 9g to strengthen the spleen and relieve pain respectively

Caution: Pao Fu Zi is toxic and must be decocted 30-60 minutes prior to adding other herbs in order to reduce it's toxicity. If the solution has not been boiled enough, then it will cause a tingling sensation on the tongue indicating it needs to be boiled longer before adding additional herbs. Pao Fu Zi may not be used with the following herbs: Ban Xia, Gua Lou, Bei Mu, and Bai Ji. This formula is contraindicated for pregnancy, Yin deficiency with fire signs, and excess heat signs.
