Zi[3] Cao[3] "Purple Herb" Rx. Lithospermi sue Arnebiae
Properties: sweet, cold
Channels: Liver, Heart
Functions: Cools blood, moves blood stasis, and releases rashes for purple skin rash and measles
Cools blood and relieves fire-toxicity for burn, diaper rash, blister, vaginitis, inflamed cervix ( apply to cervix), dry skin with itching and burning.
Dosage in decoction:3-10g
External Use: Cook herb with sesame oil or olive oil on low heat. Sesame oil is best because it has a cooling properties. Alternatively soak herb in oil overnight. Put oil in fridge after cooking for 1-2 days. This Oil is used commonly in the Chinese medicine hospital for burns, blisters, and is the number one treatment for diaper rash.
Caution and contraindication: Spleen Qi Deficiency with coldness
